These are the common questions we were often asked by tenants. Basically in Singapore, there are namely executive condominium which are jointly developed by the Housing Development Board (HDB) and private developers. The owners bought the unit at a subsidized rate and will need to fulfil a minimum occupation period (MOP) of 5 years. In other words, they are not allowed to rent out the whole unit unless they are subletting the room(s) with them still staying inside if they have not fulfilled the MOP. But after 5 years, they will be allowed to do so.
For private condominium, it is a straightforward case. Owners/ landlords are allowed to do whatever they want with the house from the day they collect the keys.
